Description

This dataset contains survey data collected to examine the relationship between homeownership and life satisfaction and to assess the mediating role of ontological security in the housing context of Istanbul, Türkiye. The data were gathered through a cross-sectional survey conducted in 2025 with 982 adult residents living in different districts of Istanbul. The survey includes measures of subjective well-being using the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), as well as variables capturing housing tenure, housing anxiety, expectations regarding future homeownership, and key sociodemographic characteristics. The dataset is designed to support empirical analyses of how housing conditions and housing-related insecurities shape subjective well-being in a highly volatile and costly urban housing market. The data may be used for research on housing studies, urban sociology, subjective well-being, and the social consequences of housing insecurity in rapidly transforming metropolitan contexts.
