Cross-national dataset from Chile, Spain, Venezuela and Colombia to analyze the meanings students attribute to the pedagogical authority of teachers

Description

This dataset includes the answers of 913 university students from 4 different Ibero-American countries (Spain, Chile, Colombia and Venezuela) to a set of questions related to the perception of teachers as authority figures. These questions constitute the 17 items that make up the Scale of Pedagogical Authority Meanings in the Classroom. As a result of the psychometric properties evaluation, a list of the components of each factor has been established: a) Closeness and Empathy (composed by 6 items): Being nice Teaching in an entertaining way Being cool Being friendly with students Being democratic in the classroom Having an outgoing personality b) Teaching and Respect (4 items) Teaching in a clear way Possessing a deep knowledge of the subject Being intelligent Being respectful with students c) Gender of the teacher (2 items) Being a woman Being a man d) Character, Demand and Experience (4 items) Possessing much professional experience Having a strong character Teaching an important subject Applying sanctions relentlessly
