Data for: Optimization of solvent properties for post-combustion CO2 capture using process simulation

Process simulations have been used to identify the most important properties of the absorbent for post-combustion CO2 recovery and provide valuable insight for further solvent development. The process model has been validated by pilot plant data. Afterward, the effects of various solvent physicochemical properties including liquid density, surface tension, thermal conductivity, viscosity, volatility, heat capacity, CO2 solubility, enthalpy of solution, solvent strength and absorption kinetics on the CO2 capture performance have been investigated separately. Then a viscous solvent with low volatility and slow absorption kinetics is assumed to service a 450 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant. Combined with an economic analysis, sensitivity studies of solvent properties are employed for this water-lean absorbent.
