Patterns of freeze-thaw cycles in 122 lakes in the Northern Hemisphere

A dataset of ice freeze cycles for 122 lakes found in the Northern Hemisphere between 1939-2016. Lake ice cover records (did the lake freeze or not) for 122 lakes with time-series extending from 1939-2015+ from the National Snow and Ice Data Center and the data portal from the Long-term Ecological Research Network (Benson et al., 2000; Sharma et al., 2019). For each lake, we also include the GPS coordinates in decimal degrees and country.
