"HERMES LCA" – a tool to assess carbon dioxide emissions during production, construction and use phases of asphalt pavements

"HERMES LCA" spreadsheet tool assesses the amount of carbon dioxide CO2 emissions generated during the life of an asphalt pavement considering production phase, construction phase and use phase. The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach is implemented. Compared to other existing LCA tools, “HERMES LCA” maximizes openness and transparency of the analysis and the interaction allowed with the user. Furthermore, "HERMES LCA" comprises inputs that are seldom touched in other tools by including use phase. The work is part of the “HERMES” international research project.
