Description

Dy3Pt4 crystallizes in the trigonal R-3 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Dy is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine Pt atoms. There are a spread of Dy–Pt bond distances ranging from 2.86–3.35 Å. There are three inequivalent Pt sites. In the first Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Dy atoms. In the second Pt site, Pt is bonded in a distorted octahedral geometry to six equivalent Dy atoms. In the third Pt site, Pt is bonded in a 10-coordinate geometry to seven equivalent Dy and three equivalent Pt atoms. There are one shorter (2.91 Å) and two longer (2.96 Å) Pt–Pt bond lengths.
