Description

LiTaOs2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two LiTaOs2 ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Li1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Os2- atoms. Both Li–Os bond lengths are 2.64 Å. Ta3+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Os2- atoms. Both Ta–Os bond lengths are 2.24 Å. Os2- is bonded in a linear geometry to one Li1+ and one Ta3+ atom.
