Twenty-five lines in a page.کتاب التمهید فی تخریج الفروع علی قواعد الاصول للامام المتفق علی جلالته و براعته و امامته و تقدمه جمال الدین ابی الحسن عبد الرحیم بن الحسن القرشی الاسنایA concise treatise on the Foundations of the Common Law, by Jamâl al-din Abu’l- Ḥasan ‘ABD AL-RAḤÎM b. al-Ḥasan Ḳurashî ISNÂ’Î (or Isanwî,1 Shâfi’î, d. A.H. 772 [=1370 CE]). Cf. Ḥ. Kh, ii. 423 sq.Beginning: الحمدلله مزیل اعذار المکلفین بارشاد العقول و تمهید الاصولThe work consists of two introductory chapters, باب الحکم الشرعی و اقسامه and باب ارکان الحکم, and seven books: I. (fol. 21) فی الکتاب; II. (fol. 95) فی السنّة; III. (fol. 97) فی الاجماع; IV. (fol. 99) فی القیاس; V. (fol. 105) فی دلائل اختلف فیها; VI. (fol. 110) فی التعادل و الترجیح; VII. (fol. 114) فی الاجتهاد و الافتاء. Each of these books comprises a series of questions (مسئلة), which are generally subdivided into chapters. The work concludes as follows:قال مصنفه فسح الله فی مدّته فرغت من تحریره فی اواخر سنة ثمان و ستین و سبعمائة سوی اشیاء الحقتهاA vulnerable copy, made by Maḥmûd b. ‘Othmân اللاری الکرمَستی. Dated Monday, 9th Rabî’ II. 794 [=5 March 1392 CE which however seems to be Tuesday]. It was transcribed from a MS., into which all the additions made by the author on a final revision had been entered by Ibrâhîm Dimyâṭî, in Rabî’ II., 772 [=April/May 1322], at Makkah. It was also collated, immediately after its completion, with another MS., which had been collated with the author’s own copy.Several Ijâzahs for the works of Isnâ’î are on the title-page, and a poem in praise of that author is at the end, all in the handwriting of the transcriber.
