Genome-wide convergent analyses and transgenic evidence reveal a single origin of laryngeal echolocation in bats

Description

We hypothesized that if the echolocation of bats originated in the ancestor of all bats, more convergent sites in hearing-related genes will be observed between dolphin and the ancestral lineage of all bats and these substitutions might affect the function of hearing-related genes. We used comparative genomics and functional experiments to test these hypotheses!
